Top 5 David Fincher Films

David Fincher is one of my favourite Directors, I have yet to see a single film of his that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. If you've never seen any of the following 5 films you should do so immediately. The first 4 are all thrillers, mostly crime, but even if you aren't into that sort of thing, they are incredibly interesting films and should definitely be seen.

5.) The Social Network
I think some people would go into this film thinking its boring, but its actually incredibly interesting. Its quite nice to know the origin of something I use every day. Compelling story, and fantastic acting. It was written by Aaron Sorkin who is always good. The Wilklevoss twins are both played by Armie Hammer, Mark Zuckerberg is played by Jesse Eisenberg, and we also see Rooney Mara, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, and Rashida Jones. It was nominated for 8 Oscars, winning 3 for Best Writing, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score. It has a 7.8/10 rating on IMDB and a 96%(critics), 86%(audience) rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

4.) Zodiac
This was the first David Fincher film I ever saw, having no idea that he was the director at the time. I remember watching it with my friends and absolutely adoring it, and they did as well. The fact that it is a real case that to this day has still never been solved makes this the perfect story for a crime thriller, and I'm so happy that David Fincher directed it because after doing my own research on the case, I thought it was handled perfectly. Great actors including Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr., and Mark Ruffalo. The film has a 7.7/10 rating on IMDB and an 86%(critics), 76%(audience) rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

3.) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I'm not even sure if there are words to describe how much I love this film. It was very difficult for me to not put it at #1, but the next two equally deserve their spots. I don't even know where to start with this one, the cinematography I guess? Absolutely stunning, the entire film is perfectly and beautifully shot. As a film student, my #1 life goal at this point in my life is to be the cinematographer on one of Fincher's films. The casting was pretty perfect for the film, I didn't read the first book but I read the second and third after watching this film. Daniel Craig is in better shape then Blomkvist is in the books, but I can definitely get past that ;). Also, I think the casting of Stellan Skarsgård might have been a mistake, only because I knew who the murderer was as soon as I saw him there... but maybe that was just me? The acting was fantastic, Rooney Mara was pretty much perfect as Lisbeth. We also see Christopher Plummer and Robin Wright. The film is was nominated for 5 Oscars winning 1 for Best Film Editing. It has a 7.9/10 rating on IMDB and an 86%(critics & audience) rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

2.) Fight Club
Fight Club is definitely Fincher's most well known film, with its own cult following. Its based on a book with the same name and basically everything about it is perfect. The acting is unbelievable and has an insane cast that includes Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, Meat Loaf, and Jared Leto. Its pretty shocking that it wasn't nominated for Best Picture, but when I went to see which film had won in 2000, it was American Beauty, which happens to be my favourite film, so I can let it pass. It was nominated for 1 Oscar though, Best Sound Effects, unfortunately it did not win. However, it does have an 8.9/10 rating on IMDB and is #10 on its Top 250 Films list, and an 80%(critics) 96%(audience) rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

1.) Se7en
Oh Se7en, after a list this good you must have some idea of how fantastic this film is. Easily one of the greatest crime thrillers of all time. The acting is perfect from absolutely everyone involved, the cinematography is perfect, and the story is so unbelievably thrilling you'll have no idea what to do with yourself. Apparently before the film was released they wanted to keep it a secret that Kevin Spacey was involved so his name was kept out of the opening credits, posters, and he didn't have to do any press work leading up to the release. You can also find Brat Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and Gwyneth Paltrow in this film. It was nominated for 1 Oscar for Best Film Editing, but sadly did not win. It has an 8.7/10 rating on IMDB and is #22 on its Top 250 Films list, and is rated 84%(critics), 95%(audience) on Rotten Tomatoes.

Honourable Mentions: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Game, Panic Room,
