I saw this movie on July 23rd and I've been thinking about it ever since. Right off the bat, the first thing that has to be mentioned is the absolutely stunning and wildly impressive set design. The backdrops, the houses, all of the set decoration in Barbieland is PERFECTION. All of the travel sequences are so fun and beautiful and creative. I would love to believe that Barbie can help usher in a new era, where we can go back to at least having some movie with real honest to god set design in a sound stage, without so much CGI. It's that time of year again, we're a week out from the 2021 Golden Globes, and yet again, I have not seen all of the nominees so I'm going to do my best with what I have seen, and what I've heard about this years line up to tell you my predictions of who is going to win, and my pick of who I'd like to see win in each category!       Let me just start this review by saying, that this film made me so angry that it brought me back from a 5 year hiatus from writing reviews just so I could make a post about it. That is how much I hated it.  (Spoiler Alert: This review is FULL of spoilers, so if you haven't seen the movie yet, skip this review!) Now that I've seen nearly all of the Best Picture nominees I feel like I can make some official predictions, and also make some picks on which are my favourites. Full disclosure, there are a few of these films I have not seen, and I'm going to exclude picks in some categories that I don't know enough about to make an informed decision on.  Lets start with the big ones!

So, I realize that it is now 2016, and therefore I am about a year overdue on this one, I apologize. I am about to release the "Top Films of 2015" list, but I felt like I couldn't do that without uploading this one first. Its that time of year again, the Oscars are around the corner, and whats more fun then making some guesses? I think privately a few of my friends and I will be making some bets, but publicly, I'll give you my guesses for free.

Hail, Caesar! is the newest film from Seth and Joel Cohen, and it looks great. With a cast like George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum, it probably can't be anything but great.

This looks so powerful! And what a cast! I absolutely adore Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep, and Helena Bonham-Carter so this seems pretty incredible. I think this one is going to be a definite Oscar condender. Check out the trailer below!

Jurassic Park is one of my all-time favourite movies so the release of Jurassic World is pretty much going to be the most exciting thing to happen in 2015 for me. The line-up of blockbusters coming out this summer is pretty mind-blowing. Its going to be an exciting couple of months! Check out the Official Global Trailer below!

When it comes to movie franchises, there aren't any larger then Star Wars. The anticipation for this film has been incredible, and since the first trailer gave us basically no information, it only made it worse. This teaser is pretty incredible, I mean, Harrison Ford. Check it out!

After the Golden Globes on Sunday I've been so, so excited for the Oscar Nominations. I haven't seen most of the films yet, so there will be another post in the coming weeks with my predictions/hopes/thoughts for the winners. 2014 was definitely a strong year for films, so I think its going to be an interesting race!

This one is going to be a mighty difficult decision. Leo has so many fantastic performances in some fantastic movies, so picking a top 5 is tough. I want to make it clear that this is not the list of my favourite of his movies, its my favourite of his acting performances. 5.)  The Departed This first on this list of a team up between Leo and Martin Scorsese, and a fantastic example of the magic that comes when the two come together. Marty is obviously known for his gangster films thanks to Goodfellas for example, but the departed holds it's own in that category as well. Fantastic classic story of the spy within a highly organized organization, only this time the organizations have spies in both. Some other actors that appear in the film include  Matt   Damon ,  Jack   Nicholson ,  Mark   Whalberg ,  Martin   Sheen ,  Alex   Baldwin , and  Vera   Farmiga . David Fincher is one of my favourite Directors, I have yet to see a single film of his that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. If you've never seen any of the following 5 films you should do so immediately. The first 4 are all thrillers, mostly crime, but even if you aren't into that sort of thing, they are incredibly interesting films and should definitely be seen. 5.) The Social Network  I think some people would go into this film thinking its boring, but its actually incredibly interesting. Its quite nice to know the origin of something I use every day. Compelling story, and fantastic acting. It was written by Aaron Sorkin who is always good. The Wilklevoss twins are both played by Armie Hammer, Mark Zuckerberg is played by Jesse Eisenberg, and we also see Rooney Mara, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, and Rashida Jones. It was nominated for 8 Oscars, winning 3 for Best Writing, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score. It has a 7.8/10 rating on IMDB  ...
